Travel Data

All major European airlines including Lufthansa, British Airways, KLM, Air France, Alitalia, and Iberia fly to Istanbul from major European cities. Turkish Airlines flies from Istanbul to 103 European destinations including all the European Capital Cities. We recommend flying to/from Istanbul Ataturk Airport (IST).

Note: Istanbul has another airport in the Anatolian side (Sabiha Gokcen Airport, SAW) which can serve as a destination for flights with cheaper airfare. This airport is 63 km away from Koç University campus in Sarıyer, and the travel to the airport may take up to 3 hours during rush hours. Therefore, we do not recommend flying to and from SAW.

How to get from Istanbul Atatürk Airport (IST) to Steigenberger Hotel

In general, you can find transportation information to/from Istanbul Ataturk Airport (IST) in the following link:

Here, we summarize some of the options, however, due to safety concerns we strongly recommend to avoid public transport (metro), and take taxi or private shuttle service.

Taxi: Taking a taxi to your hotel (Steigenberger) is the most common and convenient option. Just walk out of the airport – disregard the hustlers inside the airport trying to give you a ride – and you’ll see the orange colored airport taxis lined up to pick up passengers. The cab ride to the hotel takes about 1 hour and approximately costs 22 EUR (70 TL).

Metro: Follow the signs (denoted with M) to the metro station conveniently located near the airport terminal. You should first obtain metro tickets at the electronic booths (IstanbulCard). One-way full fare for electronic ticket (IstanbulCard) is 2.15 TL (less than 1 Euro). Take the red line (M1 line, Ataturk Airport – Yenikapi) to Yenikapi and transfer to the green line (M2 line, Yenikapi – Haciosman) and get off at İTÜ-Ayazağa station. Steigenberger Hotel is a 5-minute walk from the metro station.
